Bookings¶
Everything the Proposed plan 01 — Vall de Núria (the current working plan) assumes but hasn't actually reserved. Ordered roughly by how soon it bites — the first three are the ones that can spoil a day if left. If the trip flips to Plan 02 — With Ordesa, the Núria-specific items below drop and Ordesa-specific ones (shuttle-bus day, Torla accommodation) come in.
Time-critical¶
- Extra night at Hotel C31, Fri 28 → Sat 29 Aug — confirmed as Alessio solo (Elisabeth sleeps at a friend's place near her uncle's in Vallvidrera; joining Alessio in the car Sat 29 morning).
- Rental car, collected Sat 29 Aug morning at Barcelona Sants — Centauro quote in hand (~€499, 8 days; Sants pickup 09:30 → Zaragoza-Delicias return Sun 6 Sep 09:30). Choice between KIA XCeed (Group F1, petrol) and BYD Atto 2 (Group E3, possibly full-EV — must verify). Not yet booked; see TODO → Car rental for the open items.
- Castillo de Montearagón, Fri 4 Sep — guided tour only, so a walk-up is not a plan. €5/person, summer slots 10:00–19:30. Book on +34 622 573 497 (phone/WhatsApp) or montearagon@hplab.es.
Accommodation, night by night¶
Nothing between 29 Aug and 7 Sep is booked.
- Sat 29 Aug — Vall de Núria area. Decide first where: up in the valley (Hotel Vall de Núria, car left at Queralbs overnight) or down in Queralbs / Ribes de Freser. See Vall de Núria.
- Sun 30 Aug — La Seu d'Urgell. Festa Major weekend (28 Aug – 1 Sep) in a small town — this one will fill.
- Mon 31 Aug + Tue 1 Sep — Congost de Mont-Rebei area, 2 nights. Blocked on choosing the side of the gorge: Àger or Viacamp/Montfalcó.
- Wed 2 Sep — Graus.
- Thu 3 Sep — Aínsa (or Abizanda / El Grado, further south). Needs to be somewhere reachable in the dark after the Samitier sunset descent.
- Fri 4 Sep — Huesca.
- Sat 5 Sep — Zaragoza or very near. Non-negotiable: Elisabeth's flight is 10:10 Sunday.
- Sun 6 + Mon 7 Sep — Zaragoza, Alessio solo (car returned Sun morning at Delicias → the "keep the car and tour nearby towns" secondary scenario is off the table with this booking).
Tickets & access¶
- Cremallera de Núria, Sat 29 Aug — buying ahead is recommended to guarantee a place. Check the Queralbs-origin fare at the window rather than budgeting from the Ribes–Núria figure (€34 adult return) — see Vall de Núria for why that number is soft.
- Congost de Mont-Rebei parking, Tue 1 Sep — the La Masieta side is paid and reservation-based; check congostmontrebei.com before driving up. The Montfalcó/Viacamp side is free.
- Castillo de Loarre, Fri 4 Sep — 10:00–20:00 until 15 Sep, closed Mondays; €6, €8 guided. Tickets at entradas.castillo-loarre.es. Also re-check the Las Peñas de Riglos wildfire status before relying on it.
- Museu Diocesà / Catedral de la Seu d'Urgell, Mon 31 Aug morning — no booking needed, but it's shut on Sundays, so it has to be Monday 10:00–13:30 and it eats into that day's ~4h11 of driving. €4.
To ask / confirm¶
- Servicio Comarcal de Archivos de la Ribagorza (Pza Mayor 17, Graus; Mon–Fri 08:00–15:00; 974 54 03 85 / archivos@cribagorza.org) — ask ahead whether they actually hold anything useful for Elisabeth's Llena Canadell line. Their own page only describes administrative records of the comarca and municipalities, and says nothing about parish or notarial registers, so this may be the wrong archive. Note it's in Graus, not Benabarre — it fits Thursday before setting off, not after.
- Benabarre castle visiting hours — still unconfirmed; tourist info at Plaza Mayor, +34 974 543 000.
- EMTP Graus folk festival 2026 dates — no 11th-edition announcement anywhere; watch
Gaiteros de Graus' Facebook (
culturade.graus). See Events & festivals. - Drone rules at Samitier — the sunset flight on Thu 3 Sep is a fixed point of the trip for Alessio; nothing on this site yet confirms it's permitted there. Worth checking Spanish/Aragonese airspace restrictions before relying on it.
