Seaside: wingfoil near Reus or Barcelona¶
Decided: Alessio flies into Barcelona (BCN) and bases near Castelldefels for the wingfoil days. Escola Garbà is booked ✅: Thu 27 Aug 16:00, Wing Control block (120 min). Shaka Surf is awaiting confirmation — Alessio is on the list for Thu 27 Aug 13:00, weather-dependent, confirming on Wed 26. Plan: Shaka Surf 13:00 → walk to Escola Garbà 16:00 the same afternoon. Mojokite and The Wind Chasers are ruled out (see below). Four more options right in Barcelona city — reachable by metro, no car needed — are catalogued below as backups if the Castelldefels plan falls through. Hotel C31 is booked for the 2 solo nights (Wed 26 → Fri 28 Aug) — see Accommodation. Full checklist: TODO → Wingfoil. The Reus-area schools further down are kept for reference/backup, but are no longer the live plan. See Alessio's solo start & meeting Elisabeth for how this fits the emerging plan, and Flight options & a seaside-before-mountains extension for the flight-routing side of it.
Near Reus (Costa Daurada)¶
Windsurf Tarragona / Wingfoil CD Costa Daurada - GMaps view 🌍¶
Confirmed as a real, live operation, now under its own domain: windsurftarragona.com (checked 21 Aug 2026, contacted via WhatsApp the same day) — established since 2004, based at Platja Llarga (phases 1 & 3) and the Tarragona marina (phase 2), not Torredembarra/Altafulla as earlier assumed from wingfoilcd.com's description (still plausibly the same/affiliated operation, but the confirmed contact and address are now this one). Contact: +34 609 87 48 69 (WhatsApp). English instruction confirmed — full course description available in English on the site. Structured as a 3-phase course: wing + large board (Platja Llarga) → foil + motorboat training (Tarragona marina) → wing + foil (Platja Llarga), for all levels. Schedule Mon–Fri 10:00–14:00, weekends 11:00–14:00 / 16:00–19:00. Prices not listed — "contact for more info".
In progress: WhatsApp'd (21 Aug 2026), answer still pending
Sent to +34 609 87 48 69 directly. Not a "no" — just not yet confirmed either way.
How to reach: ~17.3 km / ~20 min drive from Reus Airport (REU) to Platja Llarga (real road-routed distance via OSRM, checked 21 Aug 2026) — closer than the ~21 km/32 min previously estimated for the Torredembarra/ Altafulla assumption.
Suggested stay: the 3-phase course likely spans multiple half-day (~2–3h) sessions given
the phase structure above — flag as approximate, confirm actual lesson length/price directly
via +34 609 87 48 69 before planning around it (price unconfirmed).
EzyFly Kiteboarding & Wingfoil - GMaps view 🌍¶
Confirmed as a real, established, wingfoil-focused operation:
ezyfly-kiteboarding.es (page itself
blocked automated fetching — 403 — but the same content is mirrored on two tourism directories,
both checked live 19 Aug 2026:
Terres de l'Ebre,
En la RĂ pita) describes it
as "la escuela más antigua de kitesurf y wingfoil en el Delta del Ebro" (the oldest kitesurf/
wingfoil school in the Ebro Delta), teaching since 2002, director with 30+ years sailing
experience. Located at Platja del Trabucador, 43548 La Rà pita (Tarragona) — Punta de la Banya,
the sand spit enclosing the Badia dels Alfacs. Contact: infoezyfly@gmail.com /
+34 670 353 284.
How to reach: ~95 km / ~1h46 drive from Reus Airport (REU) (real road-routed distance via OSRM, checked 19 Aug 2026) — notably further than the Altafulla/Torredembarra option above, since this is further south in the Ebro Delta.
Suggested stay: a first wingfoil taster lesson is typically a half-day (~2–3h) — flag as
approximate, confirm actual lesson length/price directly via infoezyfly@gmail.com before
planning around it (price unconfirmed).
The water here is not transparent — real reason, not just a delta 'look'
The Badia dels Alfacs (the bay Punta de la Banya/Platja del Trabucador encloses) is widely marketed as ideal for learning wingfoil — shallow, flat, sheltered from waves. That's true, but it doesn't mean the water is clear. A published oceanographic study of the bay found the bottom is largely mud with clay content, and that wind events and internal "seiche" currents regularly resuspend that fine sediment into the water column — sand content only increases right near the spit itself (Ocean Science, Characterization of bottom sediment resuspension events observed in a micro-tidal bay, checked 19 Aug 2026). In practice: expect murky/non-transparent water, especially away from the immediate sandy shoreline or after wind — this isn't a rare condition, it's a structural feature of a muddy, wind-exposed lagoon. If clear water matters more than easy learning conditions, the Altafulla/Torredembarra option above is open Mediterranean coast, not an enclosed muddy bay.
Near Barcelona (Castelldefels)¶
Only relevant if Alessio's leg lands at BCN instead of REU — Castelldefels is the closest beach town to Barcelona airport, and it's also the coastal spot Elisabeth's own rough route sketch starts from (see Alessio's solo start & meeting Elisabeth).
Escola GarbĂ - GMaps view 🌍¶
Real alternative, same beach as Mojokite — confirmed as a real, operating school:
escolagarbi.com (checked
20 Aug 2026), two locations in Castelldefels (Carrer 514 nĂşm. 1, and Passeig MarĂtim 11 —
right on the beachfront, effectively the same spot as Mojokite). Contact: +34 609 752 175 /
info@escolagarbi.com. Explicitly offers lessons in Spanish, Catalan, or English.
Booked ✅ (25 Aug 2026): Thu 27 Aug 16:00 — Wing Control block, 120 min
Booked via voucher on the school website. Thu 27 Aug 16:00, Wing Control block,
120 min, Passeig MarĂtim 11, Castelldefels. This follows the Shaka Surf 13:00 slot
the same afternoon — see TODO → Wingfoil for the day plan.
(Earlier: contacted via WhatsApp +34 609 752 175; they only confirm 3 days ahead,
weather-dependent. Accommodation booked accepting that risk — see
Accommodation.)
How to reach: same as Mojokite — ~12.6 km / ~14 min drive from BCN Terminal 1 (its beachfront location is ~50 m from Mojokite's, same stretch of Castelldefels beach).
Course structure and price (checked 20 Aug 2026): sold in 2h/3h blocks rather than a
single fixed "intro" price — Wing Control/Wing Ready/Wake Foil blocks run 2h each, the Wing
Foil navigation block is 3h. Per-hour pricing ranges €55–€136 depending on the block
(a "sin IVA" promotion was live at the time of checking) — confirm the exact combination and
total for a first-timer directly via info@escolagarbi.com before booking (exact intro
package price unconfirmed beyond that per-hour range). Minimum age 16; small groups (max
2–3 students per instructor).
Availability + voucher (24 Aug 2026)
Website shows availability for a Thu 27 Aug 16:00 session (the Wing Control block, 120 min). Booking works via buying a voucher first, which looks like a bit of extra faff. Idea being weighed: do both schools on Thu 27 — Shaka Surf 13:00–15:00, then walk ~30 min along the beach to Escola Garbà for the 16:00 block. Intense but doable; see TODO → Wingfoil.
Suggested stay: a first block is 2h; treat as a half-day like Mojokite's intro.
Shaka Surf - GMaps view 🌍¶
Another real, operating Castelldefels school: surfcastelldefels.com
(checked 20 Aug 2026). Contact: +34 622 88 93 93 / info@surfcastelldefels.com. States
wingfoil as 3 sessions of 2h each, €55/h per person, material included — but if there's no
wind in Castelldefels that day, they say they'll relocate to a nearby spot instead (unlike
The Wind Chasers, not yet known whether that relocation could be far). The site is
Spanish-only, with no mention of English instruction — confirm language directly via
phone/email before relying on this one specifically, unlike Mojokite/Escola GarbĂ where
English was explicitly confirmed.
Confirmed on the list (24 Aug 2026): Thu 27 Aug, 13:00
On the list for Thursday 27 Aug at 13:00 — need to contact them on Wed 26 for final confirmation (still weather-dependent). Asked how much it costs and whether payment is by card or cash — awaiting their reply. Covers the Thu solo day; a possible 16:00 Escola Garbà session could be added the same afternoon (see below / TODO → Wingfoil).
Exact meeting point given (23 Aug 2026)
Asked where the lesson is, they replied with a precise spot on Castelldefels beach:
41°15'48.9"N 1°56'38.6"E = 41.263585, 1.944049
(GMaps 🌍) — the
eastern end of Platja de Castelldefels, roughly opposite the Mojokite/Escola GarbĂ stretch
(~1 km east), still central Castelldefels and metro/train-reachable. Only holds if there's
wind there that day; otherwise they relocate to a nearby spot (see above).
How to reach: same Castelldefels beach area as Mojokite/Escola GarbĂ, ~12.6 km / ~14 min from BCN Terminal 1 — assuming the lesson stays in Castelldefels that day (see above).
Suggested stay: a single 2h session, same half-day pattern as the others.
Mojokite - GMaps view 🌍 — ruled out¶
Confirmed as a real, operating wingfoil/kite school: mojokite.com (checked 20 Aug 2026), based at Avinguda de la República Argentina 15, 08860 Castelldefels. Contact: +34 657 488 060. Lessons are taught in English — confirmed directly with the school.
Ruled out (24 Aug 2026) — no wing lessons in summer
Mojokite replied to the email directly: "Hi, we have no wing lessons in the summer, due to the busy beaches. After mid September our school gets started again!" So despite the earlier impression that slots were open, Mojokite simply doesn't run wingfoil lessons during the 26–28 Aug window — ruled out for this trip. The live options are Escola Garbà and Shaka Surf (below), with the Barcelona-city schools as backup.
Course options as listed on the page (checked 20 Aug 2026):
| Course | Duration | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Wingfoil Intro Course — "perfect for those who want to discover wing foiling" | 2h / 1 day | €140 |
| Wingfoil Lesson — for those who did the intro or have other prior experience | 2h / 1 day | €150 |
| Wingfoil Complete Course — for zero prior experience | 6h / 3 days | €410 |
| Wingfoil Rental — for those who already know how to wingfoil | 1.5h / 1 day | €80 |
Leaning toward day-by-day booking over the 3-day package: Intro Course on day 1, then a separate Wingfoil Lesson on day 2 (and a third if time/weather allow) — this comes out roughly similar in total cost to the €410 package (depending on whether a third day happens) but avoids prepaying for 3 days that could get disrupted by bad wind. Not booked yet.
How to reach: genuinely close to BCN airport — ~12.6 km / ~14 min drive from Terminal 1 (real road-routed distance via OSRM, checked 20 Aug 2026), so a short taxi/rideshare from the terminal, or by train via the R2 Sud line (Castelldefels station) if coming from central Barcelona rather than straight from the airport. Doesn't require a rental car if arriving without one yet.
Suggested stay: the intro course is stated as 2h; treat as a half-day once travel to/from the beach and gear setup are factored in.
The Wind Chasers - GMaps view 🌍 — ruled out¶
Confirmed as a real, operating kite/wingfoil school: thewindchasers.es (checked 20 Aug 2026) — instructor-led, but mobile: they drive a van between Castelldefels, Delta de l'Ebre, Malgrat de Mar, and Sant Pere Pescador depending on where the wind forecast is best that day, so a Castelldefels lesson isn't guaranteed just by showing up there.
Ruled out (21 Aug 2026) — location for these dates is too far
Albert (the contact +34 679 281 551 redirected Alessio to, texted 20 Aug) replied with
the location for the lesson:
Sant Pere Pescador,
a well-known kite/wingfoil spot on the Costa Brava (Alt Empordà , Girona) — but that's
~166 km / ~2h13 one-way driving from Castelldefels (real road-routed distance via
OSRM, checked 21 Aug 2026), and Alessio has no rental car yet
during the solo days (see Alessio's solo start & meeting Elisabeth).
Not viable for a 2-day solo taster based in Castelldefels — ruled out.
Barcelona city beaches (metro-reachable, no car needed)¶
Not the decided base (Castelldefels still is), but genuine backups if none of the Castelldefels schools come through — all four are on Barcelona city beaches served directly by Metro L4, so no car or long train ride is needed. None of these explicitly state English instruction on their own site (unlike Mojokite/Escola GarbĂ) — confirm language when contacting.
Anywhere Water Sports (Barceloneta / Badalona) - GMaps view 🌍¶
Confirmed as a real, operating multi-sport water school: bcn.anywherewatersports.com (checked 21 Aug 2026), two locations: Passeig de Joan de BorbĂł 78 (Local 7), Barceloneta, 08039 Barcelona, and C.N. BĂ©tulo, Passeig MarĂtim s/n, 08911 Badalona. Contact: +34 605 684 056. Wing Foil listed from €30 — likely a taster/intro price point rather than a full first-timer course; confirm exact duration and what's included before booking (price detail unconfirmed). Facilities include showers, changing rooms, and lockers.
How to reach: Barceloneta location is a ~5 min walk from Metro L4 Barceloneta station; Badalona location is near Metro L1 Gorg or the Rodalies R1 Badalona train station (~20 min from central Barcelona). No car needed either way.
Suggested stay: unclear from the €30 listing alone — treat as a half-day like the other schools until confirmed.
Sea You Barcelona - GMaps view 🌍¶
Confirmed as a real, operating school: seayoubarcelona.com (checked 21 Aug 2026), based at Passeig del Mare Nostrum 14, 08039 Barcelona, right on Barceloneta beach. Contact: +34 661 67 37 02 (WhatsApp). Single 1h session €100, including foil, wing, wetsuit, life vest, and helmet. Free cancellation up to 24h ahead.
How to reach: ~5–10 min walk from Metro L4 Barceloneta station, along the beach promenade. No car needed.
Suggested stay: a single session is 1h in the water; treat as a half-day once travel and gear setup are factored in.
Water Toys Team - GMaps view 🌍¶
Confirmed as a real, operating school: watertoysteam.com (checked
21 Aug 2026), based at Passeig MarĂtim del Port OlĂmpic, Sant MartĂ, 08005 Barcelona. Contact:
+34 611 85 71 89 / info@watertoysteam.com. Structured as a 4-class progressive program
(paddle-board/stability basics → motorised eFoil → dedicated wing-foil board work), roughly 1h
each in the water, from €139. Customer testimonials suggest English is used in practice,
but this isn't stated as a guarantee on the site — confirm before booking.
How to reach: ~5 min walk from Metro L4 Ciutadella | Vila OlĂmpica station. No car needed.
Suggested stay: the full 4-class program spans several sessions (~1h each); a single session is a half-day once travel and setup are included.
Club NĂ utic Poblenou - GMaps view 🌍¶
Confirmed as a real, established sailing club with a wingfoil program:
clubnauticpoblenou.com (checked 21 Aug
2026), based at 102 Passeig del Bogatell, EspigĂł de la Mar Bella, 08005 Barcelona. Contact:
697 49 10 47 / info@clubnauticpoblenou.com. 2h sessions, small groups (max 2 students
per instructor), individual instruction also available. Pricing: €115 for 1 session,
down to €99/session in a 4+ session package. Includes wing material, impact vest, helmet,
wetsuit, and insurance.
How to reach: ~10–15 min walk from Metro L4 Poblenou or Llacuna station to the Bogatell/Mar Bella beachfront. No car needed.
Suggested stay: a single session is 2h; treat as a half-day once travel and setup are included.
If continuing to the mountains afterward¶
Real road-routed driving time to Zaragoza (via OSRM, checked 19–20 Aug 2026): ~239 km / ~2h44 from the Altafulla/Torredembarra area, ~237 km / ~3h37 from La Rà pita (further, and slower per km — smaller roads out of the delta), ~293 km / ~3h16 from Castelldefels. Budget a proper travel day for the coast → Zaragoza leg, not a quick hop — see Alessio's solo start & meeting Elisabeth and Flight options & a seaside-before-mountains extension for how this interacts with the mountain route options.
